A Study in Procrastination

 Hello world!

It has been many years since I last graced the internet with a life blog. When I was 11 and we still were unaware of phenomenons such as Gangnam Style and the extensive Marvel Universe, and we were still able to order DVDs from Netflix's mail order service, I was a baby nerd, an English major in the making though I didn't know it yet. I had a blog, titled All Sadie All the Time, which I must have used to share updates about my life and friends. It's been deleted so we'll never know exactly what information about me was floating around the internet but a quick google image search of my name used to result in pages and pages of fandom pictures, courtesy of my Pinterest.

So why, after all this time would I choose to start another blog. For one, I'm curious if I never advertise it to my friends and family if anyone will ever stumble across it (highly doubt it). Two, I'm and English teaching major now, am I really even an English major if I don't start a blog? Three, it's finals week and I'm procrastinating studying for my British Literature final.

Speaking of British Literature, let me briefly explain the title of this blog. This blog is different than any I've had previously as it's dedicated to my life as an English Major and eventual English Teacher. I thought it would be appropriate to give it a literary title and url so after flipping through my Norton Anthology of English Literature 10th Edition for 5 minutes I stumbled upon Sonnet 54 by Edmund Spenser (https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/50050/amoretti-liv-of-this-worlds-theatre-in-which-we-stay)

Of this worlds Theatre in which we stay,
My love lyke the Spectator ydly sits
Beholding me that all the pageants play,
Disguysing diversly my troubled wits.

Sometimes I joy when glad occasion fits,
And mask in myrth lyke to a Comedy:
Soone after when my joy to sorrow flits,
I waile and make my woes a Tragedy.

As a university undergrad I relate much to this poem in that I tend to love from afar, spend much time sitting idly, and turn my woes into tragedy. I hope to share some of these moments on my blog, potentially relating my history, what I find interesting from my classes, and just what's going on in my life in general. While I hope my writing is funny and entertaining as I work on developing my narrative voice, this is more for a personal journal than for anyone to read. That being said, if you do find yourself here, I hope you enjoy the content and find it relatable if nothing else.
